Why choose Heart for Touch

Heart For Touch offers compassionate, client-centered massage therapy focused on comfort, connection, and wellbeing. Founded by Rachel, whose calling to palliative massage grew through personal caregiving experiences and specialized training in end-of-life care, the practice provides gentle, attentive touch that helps clients feel supported, respected, and at peace. Whether seeking relaxation, relief from stress, or comfort during illness, recovery, or life’s transitions, clients can expect a safe, nurturing environment rooted in dignity, presence, and genuine care.

Benefits of palliative massage:

Palliative massage promotes relaxation, reduces stress and muscle tension, helps manage pain, and provides comfort and emotional support. Its primary goal is to enhance well-being and improve quality of life for patients and their loved ones.

Who can receive?

Palliative massage is designed for individuals living with serious illness, chronic pain, or those receiving hospice and palliative care services. Treatments are tailored to each person's comfort level, condition, and care goals.

When should you receive?

Palliative massage can be beneficial at any stage of illness when symptoms such as pain, tension, anxiety, fatigue, or discomfort affect quality of life. Sessions can be scheduled as part of an ongoing care plan or as needed for symptom relief.

FAQs

Is Massage Safe during cancer treatment?

Yes. Palliative massage is specifically adapted to meet the needs of individuals living with serious illness, including those undergoing cancer treatment. Every session is customized based on your health condition, treatment plan, energy level, and comfort. Techniques are gentle and focused on promoting relaxation, comfort, and wellbeing rather than deep tissue work. With appropriate modifications and communication with your healthcare team when needed, massage can be a safe and supportive part of care.

Do you work with Hospice patients?

Yes. Heart For Touch specializes in providing compassionate massage therapy for individuals receiving hospice and end-of-life care. Sessions are tailored to the patient's needs and may focus on comfort, relaxation, easing physical tension, reducing anxiety, and providing the benefits of caring human touch. Family members and caregivers are also welcome to receive support, recognizing that they often carry significant physical and emotional stress during this time.

Do you travel to homes?

Yes. Heart For Touch is a mobile practice that brings massage therapy directly to clients in their homes, hospice facilities, assisted living communities, hospitals (where permitted), and other care settings. Receiving care in a familiar environment can help clients feel more comfortable and relaxed while eliminating the burden of travel.

What areas do you serve?

Heart For Touch serves clients throughout the greater Seattle and South King County region, including Tukwila, Renton, Kent, Auburn, Federal Way, Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and surrounding communities. If you are outside these areas, please contact us to discuss availability and travel options.

How long are sessions?

Session length varies based on each client's needs and energy level. Visits typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, though shorter or longer sessions may be available when appropriate. Palliative massage is guided by comfort rather than a strict treatment schedule, and sessions can be adapted to meet changing needs.

What should I expect during a visit?

Your comfort is always the priority. At the beginning of each visit, we will discuss your current condition, concerns, goals, and preferences. Sessions are gentle, fully clothed if preferred, and can be provided in a bed, recliner, wheelchair, or massage table depending on your needs and comfort. The focus is not on deep tissue work, but on promoting relaxation, easing discomfort, reducing stress, and creating a peaceful, supportive experience. Family members and caregivers are welcome to be present if desired.
